To support the communities where we live and work, Barclays established a £100m COVID-19 Community Aid Package. Part of this package includes a COVID-19 Colleague Matched Donations Programme - a commitment to match colleagues personal donations and active fundraising efforts for their chosen charities supporting COVID-19 relief.

To increase the pace and volume of applications to the COVID-19 Colleague Matched Donations Programme, and to help at a time when aid was needed most, Barclays colleagues around the world were invited to take part in a special 'pop-up' day. CRISIS AT CHRISTMAS 2020

Uprise Up & Catalyst

Agency: Charity partner: Crisis

Crisis provides vital support to homeless people in the UK, with a vision to end homelessness for good. Catalyst and Uprise Up were eager to support Crisis with their 2020 Christmas campaign, as the added risks of the coronavirus pandemic made supporting homeless people through the winter more critical than ever.

Catalyst and upriseUP delivered an omnichannel digital advertising campaign for Crisis, which exceeded its goals, raising over £6,100,000 in revenue from over 97,000 generous donations. The revenue from Catalyst and Uprise Up's campaign, which utilised paid social, paid search, and programmatic advertising, will change the lives of homeless people across the UK.

Despite the difficult circumstances during the pandemic and the increasingly competitive online environment for charities at Christmas, the campaign's average gift value of £63 exceeded Crisis' target of £43.50 and outshone even 2019's average of £46. CPA was reduced from £18 in 2019 to just £6 in 2020 - well below the target of £19. The campaign achieved a ROAS of 10, up from 3 in 2019.

The campaign's success relied on Catalyst and Uprise Up's commitment to clear-cut data, which fuelled fast and informed decision-making and adaptability at a crucial time for Crisis and their beneficiaries.

PROJECT TEAM DISSEMINATION

RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People)

From the start of the coronavirus pandemic, RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) innovated to create new relationships and launch urgent initiatives ensuring blind and partially sighted people could get food and essentials. People with sight loss faced challenges with social distancing and the physical changes made to streets, shop layouts and processes. Calls to RNIB's Helpline reached more than 1,000 a day at the height of the initial national lockdown with a high proportion of callers facing challenges getting food in store and securing online delivery slots.

RNIB's response was rapid and three-pronged:

-  A ground-breaking partnership with DEFRA to secure priority delivery services from two major supermarkets, exclusively for shoppers with sight loss.

-  Engaging and educating multiple sectors across retail, hospitality, travel, and sport providing guidance, enabling customers with sight loss to access products, goods and services.

-  An unprecedented initiative with food wholesaler Brakes to make deliveries direct to blind and partially sighted people.

We have now reached more than four million employees across the UK, through our suite of tailored guidance. The DEFRA scheme has benefited more than 350 blind and partially sighted customers in securing priority online delivery slots referred to Tesco and Iceland.

MAGIC BREAKFAST & AMAZON'S HOME DELIVERY BREAKFAST PACKS

Amazon

Agency: Charity partner: Magic Breakfast

Child poverty levels are the highest they have been since 1999. Even before the pandemic, 1.8 million school children in the UK were at risk of morning hunger. A hungry child cannot learn. Hunger is a barrier to education. Since May 2020, including the school holidays, Amazon has delivered almost 3 million breakfasts to families around the country.

In response to school closures, Magic Breakfast's long-term partner, Amazon, provided critical strategic, fulfilment and delivery support, working with the charity to repurpose their entire delivery model. As a result, Magic Breakfast were able to offer breakfast provision for vulnerable families at home. Each child at a Magic Breakfast partner school was, and continues to be, entitled to a fortnightly pack consisting of a box of cereal and/or porridge, milk vouchers, a packet of bagels and a large catering tin of beans, that Amazon has been dropping at their doorstep.

By providing this service, Magic Breakfast and Amazon have been able to support the physical and emotional wellbeing of families by ensuring children have access to a nutritious breakfast.

#WEARE5110

Schroders

Agency: Accenture and Nominet Charity partner: FutureDotNow

In April 2020, Schroders launched a global charitable campaign in response to the coronavirus called #CollectiveAction. Alongside the payroll-giving programme which underpinned the campaign, we launched a global fundraising challenge called #WeAre5110 and raised money for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). We began the fundraising challenge just four weeks after our initial emergency response, and maintained it for three months. At the time of the launch of our #CollectiveAction campaign, 5,110 employees worked at Schroders worldwide. #WeAre5110 marked this and it sought to get all of our people moving in some way, whether it was running 5,110 metres or doing something for 5,110 seconds. The challenge went truly global as hundreds of colleagues from across the world took part and posted their efforts on social media. The colleague’s challenges became more and more creative, from running, skipping and cycling to dancing and mountaineering, all the while raising money for MSF. Through donations and fundraising, our people collectively raised £3.8 million in 16 weeks for 95 charities around the world, totalling £4.3 million for the overall #CollectiveAction campaign. The Hygiene and Behaviour Change Coalition (HBCC) was created by Unilever and the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to mount a rapid response to limit the spread of COVID-19 among vulnerable populations in low- and middle-income countries. HBCC is novel in its combination of government funding with in-kind support and management from a private sector partner, and represents a £100m contribution to COVID-19 mitigation efforts.

HBCC is formed of 21 NGO and UN partners running 78 projects across 37 countries, with the aim of reaching 1 billion people. This will be achieved through a 3-pronged approach, leveraging our partnership at scale to distribute hygiene products and services, deliver behaviour change messaging through mass media and face-to-face communication, and using digital strategies.

Despite only being part-way through our coalition we have already achieved a huge amount, reaching hundreds of millions of people and donating over 70 million hygiene products to the most at-risk and vulnerable, including refugees, migrant workers, women and girls, the elderly, people with disabilities and health workers. Coalition partners, including 13 UK-based charities, have also gained a huge amount from this partnership which will stand us in excellent stead for continued response to the pandemic and future emergencies.

Roadchef is one of the UK's largest motorway service area operators, with 30 sites in 21 locations across the country. It employs over 2,500 staff with a vision to make Britain's roads a safer and happier place by de-stressing and delighting the 52million motorists who pass through its doors each year.

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) is the world's leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research. The original partnership was launched in January 2018, and three years on, CRUK were successful in securing a further three-year partnership until December 2023.

Roadchef excelled in its fundraising throughout the first three years of partnership, delivering CRUK's health awareness messaging and encouraging engagement from staff and customers. By the end of December 2020, overall projected contribution of the partnership was £2.6million.

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in many Roadchef employees being furloughed and subsequently fundraising has understandably slowed. Despite this, Roadchef has remained incredibly committed throughout and aim to raise £6million by the end of the partnership. Additionally, the partnership will continue to drive employee and customer engagement towards cancer awareness messaging, with the support of CRUK's health awareness nurses and by engaging staff with the charity's health information.

LIBERTY GLOBAL AND STREET CHILD

Liberty Global

Agency: Charity partner: Street Child

Liberty Global (LG) is one of the world's largest TV and broadband companies. For eleven years LG provided cornerstone support to Lessons for Life (LfL), an African education charity founded by its former Chief Strategy Officer. Through innovative staff and partner engagement, LG has helped LfL raise £3m a year in unrestricted funds and provide critical pro-bono support, in particular office space, technical assistance and trustees.

In 2019 LG recognised the potential for scaling LfL's impact through a merger with Street Child, a like-minded, highly complementary charity. Street Child, an award-winning NGO focussed on children's education in impoverished and disaster-affected settings, receives substantial support from UN agencies, Governments and philanthropists. Street Child however lacked significant corporate backing or knowledge and had low levels of unrestricted income; moreover it was looking to expand in Uganda, LfL's major project country.

M&A is vital to LG's business. The synergy was obvious. In 2019 LG powerfully pledged to technically support the merger and roll its entire long-term commitment to LfL into Street Child. Four senior LG staff accepted places on an expanded Street Child Board.

Since 2019 LG's support has underpinned a brilliant COVID-19 response and a near doubling of overall scale.

Leaving home for the first time can be frightening for any young person. For care leavers it can be overwhelming.

Without family support networks, and with the majority having experienced childhood trauma, care leavers perilous situations are compounded by incredibly poor accommodation options.

A shortage of housing means 1 in 4 young people leaving care in the UK are being placed in accommodation deemed 'unsuitable', with a third becoming homeless within two years.

United by the belief that a safe a place to call home is a fundamental right, Barnardo's and Saint-Gobain joined forces to pilot a new model to deliver transformative impact.

Together we have built our first two Gap Homes in Renfrewshire providing young people with a space to feel proud of, and support to make a successful transition to independence.

Our Gap Homes have provided a life-line during lockdown, supported young people to achieve their dreams and ambitions, and have even helped care leavers to keep their own family together.

SHELTER AND HSBC UK

HSBC UK

Agency: Charity partner: Shelter

Shelter and HSBC UK have been working in partnership since 2018, to improve the lives of individuals and families suffering the negative effects of the housing and homelessness emergency. From strategic programmes to volunteering and fundraising, our partnership spans a variety of activities which help us tackle the causes of bad housing and homelessness.

In 2019, we launched a ground-breaking new initiative to support clients with no previous or fixed address to access a bank account. As part of their support journey with us, clients who had previously struggled to open an account could now do so when accompanied to a HSBC UK branch by their Shelter caseworker. Since the launch of the programme, we have supported over 70 of our clients to access banking - but we won't stop there. DELOITTE UK RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS TEAM - ONE MILLION FUTURES PROGRAMME

Deloitte

Deloitte's purpose is to make an impact that matters. Our UK One Million Futures (OMF) programme has been at the heart of this.

Launched in 2016, the ambition was to impact a million futures in five years through volunteering, fundraising, pro-bono support and partnerships with schools, charities and social enterprises. Thanks to our Responsible Business (RB) team, which led the initiative, and thousands of Deloitte colleagues, we exceeded our milestone a year early in May 2020.

OMF has helped disadvantaged young people to build valuable skills, access vital education and recognise their potential.

In all, we formed more than 100 partnerships, which was twice the original goal. Our employees dedicated over 121,000 volunteer hours and completed pro-bono work worth almost £3million. More than £11.7million was raised to support local communities, we had hoped to hit at least £1million a year.

This success has led to OMF being launched globally and Deloitte UK now has a new ambition of five million futures by 2030.

While the numbers are impressive, they represent something more important, better lives. OMF has raised the aspirations of a million people who can now look forward to a brighter, more rewarding future.

NATHAN MOORE

Andrews Property Group

Agency: Charity partner: Andrews Charitable Trust

Nathan Moore has been a top performer in the company for the past 7 years. His success belies his struggles as a young person leaving the care system and finding his way in the world without family.

Many people would want to leave this behind, but when ACT announced Establish, buying homes for care leavers, Nathan immediately volunteered. In no time he was supporting the project charities, galvanising early fundraising drives, and organising house launch events to intentionally inspire Andrews staff involvement. Personally, he trained as a mentor and has supported 3 young people.

The Company created the role of Establish Ambassador to recognise his passionate advocacy for volunteering. In 2020, he applied for and was accepted as a Trustee of ACT to be able to influence Establish and engagement with Andrews in more strategic ways. Using his professional expertise, he has negotiated and secured ACT's first ever loan, to be able to buy more homes.

The speed with which Nathan has built knowledge and skills relating to charity work have not affected his performance at work. Nathan was a top performing Financial Advisor in Andrews again in 2020, continuing to drive the profits that support the Establish project.
