In April 2020, Schroders launched a global charitable campaign in response to the coronavirus called #CollectiveAction. Alongside the payroll-giving programme which underpinned the campaign, we launched a global fundraising challenge called #WeAre5110 and raised money for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). We began the fundraising challenge just four weeks after our initial emergency response, and maintained it for three months. At the time of the launch of our #CollectiveAction campaign, 5,110 employees worked at Schroders worldwide. #WeAre5110 marked this and it sought to get all of our people moving in some way, whether it was running 5,110 metres or doing something for 5,110 seconds. The challenge went truly global as hundreds of colleagues from across the world took part and posted their efforts on social media. The colleague’s challenges became more and more creative, from running, skipping and cycling to dancing and mountaineering, all the while raising money for MSF. Through donations and fundraising, our people collectively raised £3.8 million in 16 weeks for 95 charities around the world, totalling £4.3 million for the overall #CollectiveAction campaign.
