Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) and Age UK came together at the start of the pandemic to raise £1million to help support older people across the UK. Despite the challenges of fundraising during a pandemic, we are on track to reach our target. However what makes this partnership even more remarkable is how we’ve worked together strategically to upskill YBS colleagues to support older people in their communities.

Older people who were still recovering from the physical and mental impacts of the pandemic, are now facing difficult financial decisions to try and keep their head above water. Our partnership is helping older people overcome the challenges they face today, but also to better prepare them for future. So far we’ve helped over 3,950 older people with holistic information and advice, whilst helping identify vital additional income to help them navigate this crisis.

In addition, we’ve utilised our combined reach and expertise to support older people in communities across the UK. We’ve been able to work together to upskill YBS colleagues to better support older customers they are concerned about and help YBS colleagues to support older people in their communities to stay connected, by improving their digital skills and confidence.
