Virgin Money partnership with Mind and Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH)

Virgin Money

Client: Mind and Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH)

Our partnership started in January 2024 to address the two-way link between financial pressures and mental health problems. With research showing that almost half of UK adults experience disrupted sleep or overwhelm due to money worries, the partnership set out to create large scale social change by improving awareness, strengthening support, and reducing stigma for customers, colleagues, and communities.

Across 2024–25, Virgin Money delivered a comprehensive programme combining mandatory mental health training, large scale colleague engagement campaigns, and over 1,000 community based activities through its national branch network. Public facing campaigns, backed by strong research and compelling real life stories, generated millions of impressions, elevating national understanding of the link between mental health and money. Unrestricted fundraising surpassed expectations, reaching £701,000 by December 2025 and enabling Mind and SAMH to deliver vital services and expand specialist programmes, including a Financial Inclusion Officer at SAMH.

The partnership has strengthened colleague confidence, enhanced customer support, and provided critical mental health interventions at moments of real vulnerability. It has delivered meaningful societal benefit while deepening Virgin Money’s purpose driven culture and demonstrating the power of cross sector collaboration to improve the lives of people experiencing mental health problems.
