UK Year of Service

NCS Trust RCb

Client: Various Charity Partners

UK Year of Service is a pilot project, designed to support the post-pandemic generation of young professionals to become world-ready and work-ready, undertaking 9-12 month paid work placements in organisations that help drive social change in communities. As the National Partner for the pilot, NCS Trust launched the project with 10 delivery partners (8 charities), creating jobs across 75 employers, the majority of which are charities themselves.

Alongside our partners, NCS Trust recruited 277 young professionals throughout the UK. With placements in 3 main sectors (healthcare, environment and public services), we now have young professionals improving outdoor parks as Green Space Regeneration Workers, coordinating localised recovery efforts as Emergency Response Assistants, supporting educational catch up as School Service Leaders and delivering much needed outreach work as Assistant Youth Workers. In addition to a paid job placement where they can have a meaningful impact on their local community, members also receive employability training and support.

By partnering with charities who have a local footprint across a broad range of locations (Catch22, EFL Trust), as well as smaller charities (Dorset Youth Association), we have been able to ensure the project funding and resource capacity is reaching frontline communities.
