Turner & Townsend and Action for Children: Working in Partnership to Remove Barriers to Education

Turner & Townsend

Client: Action for Children

With more than 13,000 grants delivered since launch - including 1,083 in 2025 - the Action for Children and Turner & Townsend partnership is creating measurable, life‑changing impact for children across the UK. The partnership’s Education Fund ensures that children living in poverty have access to school shoes, uniforms, coats and other essentials, helping them attend school with confidence and easing the pressure on families facing financial hardship.

This impact is made possible through Turner & Townsend’s national fundraising and colleague engagement. In 2025, teams collectively raised £235,000 through regional galas, sleep-outs, national sports challenges, graduate-led initiatives and other major events. Alongside fundraising, colleagues contribute skills-based volunteering and pro bono expertise, including support for improvements at Action for Children centres such as redeveloped outdoor spaces.

Underpinning the partnership is strong governance, widespread colleague involvement and a shared commitment to tackling a persistent but often overlooked issue: the fact that many children living in poverty cannot afford the basic items they need to fully participate in school. With 4.5 million children in the UK affected, the Education Fund’s £60 grants help remove barriers to learning, improve wellbeing and embed social value into Turner & Townsend’s culture.
