Client: Getting on Board

Russell-Cooke Solicitors have partnered with the charity Getting on Board to deliver a programme of accessible, high-quality governance training for charity trustees.

The partnership leverages Russell-Cooke’s charity law expertise and Getting on Board’s mission to support people to serve as effective trustees. The aim is to help broaden participation on charity boards, particularly from under-represented groups. The partnership includes financial support from Russell-Cooke, which helps Getting on Board to provide its Trustee Learning Programme free of charge and to improve accessibility by marketing resources to a diverse audience. Russell-Cooke’s specialist charity lawyers have also worked in partnership with Getting on Board to: • use Russell-Cooke’s experience of working with a range of not-for-profit organisations to develop the Trustee Learning Programme into new subject areas and formats; • deliver training webinars and participate in panel discussions; • contribute technical expertise to ensure the Trustee Learning Programme helps trustees to feel better supported in their roles. The partnership began in May 2023. Between May and December 2023 the events attracted almost 1,600 bookings: 97% of people who attended said they would recommend the session to someone else and 98% of trustees said the session would help them be a more effective trustee.
