The Women in Safe Houses fund – building lasting change

The Women in Safe Homes fund (“the fund”), managed by Patron Capital in collaboration with Resonance, is a groundbreaking social impact investment fund, created to address the need for safe and secure housing for women facing homelessness, domestic abuse, and other complex challenges. The demand for safe and secure homes for at-risk women is extremely high, with domestic abuse being one of the leading causes of homelessness for women and children. To address this complex issue, the fund aims to create 150 homes, benefiting over 1,500 women, with a focus on gender-specific housing issues.

To deliver its objectives, the fund works closely with its nine housing partners, which are largely made up of charities and women’s sector organisations. The fund buys and refurbishes properties, which are then leased to its housing partners, to provide vulnerable women and their children with secure tenancies, as well as specialised support services. The fund now houses 206 women and children (as of Dec2023) and has acquired 68 properties. It also works to support its housing partners, helping them to develop their property management experience, scale up their services, and expand their property portfolios.
