The JOBS Project

Client: Barnardo's

40% of 19-21 year old care leavers in England are classified as not in education, employment or training (NEET) and face a wide range of issues including leaving care, self-harm, homelessness, mental health, debt and money management, self-esteem, ADHD, autism, and young people caring for parents. Amazon and Barnardo’s relationship began in 2018 following a meeting at the launch of the Government’s Care Leavers Covenant. We shared a vision that together we could deliver transformative and sustainable impact on the lives of the most vulnerable young people across the UK.

Our programme was conceived as a truly shared value partnership, which would utilise our combined skills, knowledge and resources to support young people to overcome challenges, secure positive destinations and achieve their dreams and ambitions.

Named the Journey of Becoming Successful (JOBS) by the young people supported on the programme, The JOBS Project is an innovative and scalable solution to tackling barriers to work and ensures young people facing a range of challenges develop the skills needed to secure work.
