The Access Group and Young Lives vs Cancer UK Partnership

The Access Group

Client: Young Lives vs Cancer

The Access Group’s partnership with Young Lives vs Cancer was built on a powerful shared purpose: to support young people with cancer and their families at the toughest moment of their lives. Employees nominated causes close to their hearts, and Young Lives vs Cancer won the UK vote with overwhelming support, driven by colleagues’ personal stories and genuine emotional connection.

Delivered through an employee‑led model, over 60 Giving Champions across the UK powered a year of inclusive fundraising and awareness activities, supported by strong leadership involvement and pound‑for‑pound match funding from Access. From a UK‑wide music festival and a London‑to‑Amsterdam cycle to virtual carolling and double‑match campaigns, colleagues across offices, hybrid roles and remote settings were able to take part. Employees also volunteered for the charity as well as providing a meeting space for their social workers, deepening the partnership beyond fundraising.

The results were life‑changing: 1,233 hardship grants, thousands of hours of emotional, financial and practical support, and a £20,000 refurbishment of Marion’s House, a Home from Home for families. Employee engagement soared, with “Giving Back” achieving our highest survey score.

This partnership created compassion, unity and real social impact, delivering meaningful change for families facing cancer.
