Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease - partnership between I&G and Leeds Hospitals Charity
I&G
Client: Leeds Hospitals Charity
During the construction of the building, the two organisations worked together, along with other partners, to fundraise, involve stakeholders and the MND community, and raise awareness of this terrible disease.
Born from Rob Burrow’s determination to create a place that treats patients as people, not conditions, the centre has been designed with patients and families at its heart - providing a calm, welcoming, and fully accessible environment.
When I&G were commissioned to build the centre, the charity still had £1.8m to raise of their £6.8m target.
I&G helped contribute to that total through contributing to fundraising efforts, coordinating supply chain donations of materials and time, and facilitating visits to the site which enabled potential donors to understand the vision for the centre.
I&G also used value engineering to ensure that the cost for building the centre was reduced, whilst ensuring the quality of the building.
The result is the first purpose-built centre dedicated entirely to MND care, research, education and holistic support, and will be a trailblazer for other centres around the country.
