Reed Smith & Theirworld
Reed Smith
Client: Theirworld
For over two decades, global law firm Reed Smith has partnered with the UK children’s charity Theirworld and its US subsidiary, the Global Business Coalition for Education (GBC-Education), to unleash the potential of future generations by addressing the global education crisis currently impacting 260 million children who do not receive a formal education. The firm has fully integrated the charities into its business strategy and consequently pioneered an ESG approach to business long-before the term became popular.
Reed Smith’s efforts are spearheaded by lawyers across different practice areas including partner David Boutcher, who is a founding member and trustee of Theirworld, and partner Tamara Box who sits on Theirworld’s advisory board. The firm’s and the charity’s personnel work together from the same offices in London and New York. Over the years, Reed Smith’s lawyers have provided countless hours of highly-valued pro bono legal services across many practice areas in multiple jurisdictions to the charity and GBC-Education to support their ongoing operations and activities. The firm also proactively leads and supports numerous wider operational and marketing initiatives, and this partnership truly evidences ESG being pioneered long before many firms thought it even mattered.
