Pfizer UK and International Health Partners: A 20 Year Partnership Delivering Access to Essential Medicines

Pfizer UK

Client: International Health Partners

For more than 20 years, Pfizer UK and International Health Partners (IHP) have worked in a long-term partnership to improve access to essential medicines for people living in humanitarian, disaster affected and underserved settings.

Since 2004, Pfizer, an IHP founding partner, has supported the delivery of Essential Health Packs (EHPs), containing World Health Organisation (WHO) aligned essential medicines that enable frontline healthcare providers to deliver primary and emergency care. Across the partnership, Pfizer’s support has helped IHP respond to over 50 humanitarian emergencies and deliver medicines across more than 61 countries.

Over the full partnership period, Pfizer donations have contributed to more than 1.48 million units of medicines supporting healthcare delivery for more than 3.2 million patients worldwide.

Beyond product donations, Pfizer has provided sustained financial donations, governance expertise and operational support, helping IHP evolve from an emergency response organisation into a trusted partner for longer term health system strengthening. This has included support for logistics, compliance, quality assurance and programme development in fragile settings.

Impact is tracked through annual donor impact reports, programme monitoring and alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 3, ensuring the partnership delivers measurable, lasting social change at scale globally and sustainably over time.
