Our House is Not a Home

HSBC UK

Client: Shelter

The ‘Our House is not a Home’ campaign was created to highlight the reality of homelessness and the public’s understanding of it. Tens of thousands of families are the hidden homeless, living in unsuitable temporary accommodation that strips away safety and stability. They may have a house, but they do not have a home. That hidden reality needed to be seen.

For Shelter, this was a moment of opportunity and risk. We had never run a large-scale fundraising digital & TV campaign outside of our Winter Appeal; despite knowing that awareness built before winter could positively impact fundraising, we lacked the resource to make it happen. With no precedent, benchmarks or internal campaign machinery, we needed a partner willing to believe and build it with us.

HSBC UK stepped in to do exactly that. A hero partner since 2023, HSBC UK has worked hand in hand with Shelter; with the partnership recognising that when the unexpected happens, financial resilience can help make a difference.

By fully funding and co-delivering the campaign, together we created powerful storytelling that moved audiences emotionally, whilst highlighting practical support families can turn to when crisis hits, such as the HSBC UK funded advice
