McKesson UK & Alzheimer’s Society charity partnership

McKesson UK

Client: Alzheimer's Society

McKesson UK and Alzheimer’s Society have been working in partnership since 2015 and have raised over £850,000. Currently the partnership is funding Alzheimer Society’s Dementia Advisers, a service which offers information about all aspects of living with dementia. In 2021, McKesson raised over £125,000 to fully fund two dedicated telephone Dementia Advisers and contribute to nine community Dementia Advisers.

McKesson and Alzheimer’s Society have collaborated to make a more dementia friendly society. McKesson has embraced Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends initiative creating 28,000 Dementia Friends, meaning their colleagues are better placed to understand how dementia may affect their patients, customers, or their own loved ones. Through McKesson’s LloydsPharmacy network, patients and customers with a dementia diagnosis, those caring for a loved one with the condition, or those worried about their memory are signposted to Alzheimer’s Society services.

McKesson has supported Alzheimer’s Society through the Covid pandemic by donating 400 flu jabs for Dementia Advisers, helping to protect frontline workers so they can continue to support families affected by dementia. McKesson colleagues have also volunteered their time to become Companion Callers, a service set up by the Society to reduce social isolation during the pandemic.

Together, we are working to defeat dementia.
