One in four people are dying without the care and support they need at the end of life. KPMG and Marie Curie’s strategic partnership aims to change this through raising awareness and funds for Marie Curie’s vital work, as well as supporting the organisation with volunteering, strategic pro bono and joint thought leadership. The Big Walks challenge event series has become an annual flagship for the partnership.

The series involves colleagues participating in a walking challenge in a scenic area of the UK to raise money and awareness for Marie Curie. The series also aims to bring colleagues together and enhance their wellbeing. Despite a challenging year, innovation, collaboration and hard work led to the most successful series yet, surpassing all targets including: A record number of sign-ups (5,315), an increase of 57% on 2022 £320,000 raised – a 44% increase on 2022 Over 75,000km travelled in aid of Marie Curie’s 75th Birthday 93% said the Big Walks improved their wellbeing 88% felt the series helped them reconnect / connect with colleagues The Big Walks challenge series has become “an important part of our social fabric” at KPMG and highlights our colleague engagement with, and passion for, Marie Curie’s work.
