In April 2023, The Sun launched our groundbreaking Footie for All campaign to shine a light on how the cost-of-living crisis was driving kids out of grassroots sport, following a Sun investigation which revealed the cost of living crisis was forcing many young children to drop out of sports clubs as families struggle to make ends meet.

The Footie for All Fund is the result of a truly unique and pioneering partnership which combined the wide reaching, campaigning power of The Sun and Tesco's focus and commitment to provide healthy food and activities for children which is the focus of their Stronger Starts campaign.

In the wake of the crisis and the investigation, The Sun launched Footie For All — backed by some of England’s top players including Harry Maguire, ­Raheem Sterling, Jarod Bowen, John Stones and Phil Foden — to highlight the importance of grassroots sports clubs.

In September we went one step further and teamed up with Tesco to create the Footie for All Fund which gave out £150,000 worth of grants to grassroots youth football clubs in crisis, which are distributed by Groundwork charity.
