Building Bridges: Restoring Futures in Ukraine

The conflict in Ukraine has resulted in the destruction of at least 365 educational institutions, with a further 3,800 damaged by bombing and shelling. As a result, almost half of all school-aged children in the country are unable to access in-person education, threatening their educational progress and long-term success and cutting them off from much needed mental health support. In response to this crisis, in January 2024 international children’s charity Street Child and multinational technology company Infosys came together to develop ‘Building Bridges: Restoring Futures in Ukraine’. With generous financial and technical support from NTT, and despite the challenges of operating in an active conflict zone, this three-year programme has already established seven inclusive Digital Learning Centres in the eastern oblast of Dnipropetrovsk, providing over 1,500 children with access to safe, secure spaces providing educational and psychosocial support.

The programme has also developed vital learning resources for teachers and students via Infosys’ flagship digital learning platform, Springboard, which will benefit thousands more children in turn. The partnership has not only impacted vulnerable children in Ukraine, but has also advanced and amplified Infosys and Street Child’s shared mission of supporting education in emergencies, both amongst employees and other private sector actors.
