Client: East London Business Alliance and Islington Giving

BIG Alliance represents the culmination of a strategic, place-based commitment to Islington by Macquarie Group. Funded by Macquarie Group Foundation in 2012, in partnership with Islington Giving (IG) and East London Business Alliance (ELBA), the partnership was designed to meet the pressing needs of a Borough defined by extremes; where significant wealth exists alongside some of the UK’s highest levels of deprivation.

Over the last 14 years, Macquarie has embedded its social values into the BIG Alliance, providing over £1 million in strategic financial investment and mobilising over 19,000 volunteers. This partnership has grown from a single-firm initiative into a vital community power-house that now includes 11 business partners working collectively to support over 5,000 community partners since its inception. Our vision for social change is an Islington where local community organisations - the essential lifelines for mental health, youth empowerment, and poverty relief - are robust enough to weather any economic storm. We are working to build a future where no resident is left behind simply because their local support network lacks the resources to keep its doors open.
