30 years of blooming together

Marie Curie

Client: National Garden Scheme

Marie Curie and the National Garden Scheme (NGS) have shared a special partnership since 1996, based on the belief that gardens and green spaces can play a vital role in mental and physical wellbeing, especially at the end of someone’s life. The partnership, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, is one of Marie Curie’s longest-running and most impactful collaborations.

In the past three decades, NGS has donated more than £12.2 million to Marie Curie, mainly as unrestricted funding. These consistent and reliable donations have enabled our organisation to expand palliative care services and research across the UK and to support people and the end of life, their families and carers, while facing increased demand and cost. At the same time, the partnership has helped the NGS grow awareness of its mission, attract more visitors to gardens and promote the benefits of “Green Health” and nature.

Together, Marie Curie and NGS have demonstrated the power of long-term and trust-based collaboration with the mission to achieve social change, by improving access to high-quality palliative care, promoting green health and bringing together communities across the country.
