Citi provides consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a broad range of financial products and services, including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, transaction services, and wealth management. Citi is a bank with a clear and stated mission of enabling economic growth and progress. Our mission means we strive to serve as a trusted partner to our clients and society by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress. Volunteer Africa (VA) is a multi-faceted partnership developed by Citi in London, Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) and Balloon Ventures (BV). VA leverages Citi’s junior talent, using skills they have developed at Citi to support African businesses in poor communities. After a pilot in 2016 involving 12 junior bankers in Kenya, in 2017 24 volunteers spent 5 weeks in Uganda working with 16 entrepreneurs to help them build their business plans and secure investment. Based on learning from the programme, in 2017 the Citi Foundation invested $250k to support East African into employment and entrepreneurship.
