Street Elite

Berkeley Foundation and The Change Foundation

The Berkeley Foundation’s longest standing Strategic Partnership is with The Change Foundation, in support of the Street Elite programme.

Since 2012, Street Elite has provided coaching and mentoring to young people impacted by violence and crime, helping them to re-engage with employment, education or training over a period of nine months.

The partnership between Berkeley Foundation and the Change Foundation has had significant impact on both organisations, as well as for over 500 young Londoners. Berkeley Foundation’s parent company, Berkeley Group, has supported 20 Street Elite graduates into employment, and provided work experience for many more.

Berkeley staff have adopted an flexible approach when managing work placements for Street Elite participants. This includes adapting working hours, providing employability sessions for Street Elite participants and delivering targeted support to help participants to gain qualifications needed to embark on careers in the Built Environment.

Research in 2019 revealed that the Street Elite programme generates an astonishing £10.72 in social value for every £1 invested. 2020 is set to be an exceptional year for Street Elite, as we continue to develop the London programme, and deliver a pilot in Birmingham for the first time.
