Standard Life’s two year partnership with Scope and Capability Scotland ended on 31 July 2016 having raised a record breaking amount for all parties of £588,759.41. Scope provides support, information and advice to more than a quarter of a million disabled people and their families every year through vital services and campaigns, across England and Wales. Capability Scotland campaigns with, and provides education, employment and care services for disabled children and adults across Scotland. Scope and Capability Scotland’s work halving the disability employment gap complements Standard Life’s community investment strategic focus of breaking down barriers to employment as a means of improving social and financial inclusion. This meant we were able to align our strategies for maximum impact across the UK.
At the outset, it was a deliberate aim to support a deeper employee-led charity partnership that collaborated on multiple levels while still continuing to engage people to maximise fundraising and volunteering. We used our expertise on sponsorship, strategy, policy, leadership development, UK buildings and our broader company influence to help drive practical, meaningful change towards a shared vision of enabling disabled people across the UK to have the same opportunities as everyone else.
