SOU / HIOWAA Charity Partnership

Southampton Airport and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

31st December 2019 marked the end of a hugely successful three-year partnership between Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Southampton International Airport. The lifesaving Charity teamed up with Southampton Airport in January 2017, and since then customers, staff and supporters have raised over £100,000.00.
Throughout the partnership, Southampton Airport hosted its annual ‘Runway Run’ in aid of the Air Ambulance; raising over £45,000 through ticket sales alone. Growing year-on-year, the number of participants taking part in the early morning 5km fun run more than doubled, with a record 1000 runners participating in the 2019 run at 5:30am on Solstice Sunday. 2019 also saw members of the Southampton Airport Fire Service swap blazing fires for blazing saddles as they cycled 655 miles from Aberdeen Airport to Southampton Airport.
Aligning brand values was key to the success of the relationship. Every action and interaction had Teamwork, Professionalism, Dedication and Openness at its heart, allowing the relationship to grow and flourish.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance relies upon the generosity of the community, and in particular upon businesses such as Southampton International Airport, to raise the £15,000 a day needed to keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.
