In 2016 Informa launched a new initiative called Walk the World encouraging colleagues at the company to come together in their five divisions to be active and raise money to support charities closely aligned to their work. Informa have supported World Cancer Research Fund for over 10 years and the Business Intelligence division chose to support them as part of this new initiative.
Over 30 Informa offices around the globe held walks in their local community and in total 2012 Informa colleagues, or 33.5% of the company participated in an event. This was a staggering 151% increase in participation on the previous year. The largest event was held in London with over 500 people walking up to 20km from Putney to Tower Bridge. In total, colleagues walked just under 20,000 km (the equivalent of walking halfway around the world!) raising £112,000 for the five charities they supported.
The partnership has brought huge benefits and the relationship has now continued into a year-long collaboration and above and beyond a one off fundraising event. A syndicate has begun a much deeper relationship and started to continue to support the charity on a pro bono basis with projects to help scope the future direction of fundraising and health information programmes.
