In 2016, HSBC UK launched a strategic partnership with Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland. It all began with one colleague's need to care for a family member living with a disease that affects 850,000 people in the UK. Together, we hope to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by dementia. The partnership funds key support services, enabling those affected by dementia to live well and continue to be a part of their community. We know that one of the biggest fears after receiving a diagnosis is losing independence, through our partnership we aim to make HSBC UK the UK's dementia friendly bank, helping everyone living with dementia retain their financial independence for as long as possible.
Our partnership focuses on four measurable pillars:
-Fundraising/ Volunteering: A commitment to raise £3m to fund four key support services.
-Supporting our colleagues: Provide information and support for all colleagues living with, or affected by dementia.
-Dementia friendly business: Ensure HSBC are providing the best experience for HSBC customers and their carers, helping them bank in the way that works for them.
-Education/ awareness: Increase understanding of dementia and deploy the Dementia Friends initiative throughout HSBC
