Holocaust Memorial Day 2020 marked 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) which runs the UK commemoration, asked Lexington to coordinate national PR for this significant anniversary.
Lexington is a leading communications agency. We worked with HMDT to tell their story in a pivotal year and to educate a broad UK audience about different genocides, in line with the charity’s strategic objectives.
We worked with HMDT to support their communications for the anniversary. This focused on four main activities: a photography project involving the Duchess of Cambridge, a digital engagement campaign, a participatory arts project, and the national commemoration, attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Prime Minister.
Lexington developed PR materials to support these, then led on media engagement, including coordinating broadcast and print requests, arranging survivor interviews, securing thought-leadership for HMDT’s CEO, inviting journalists to the commemoration, managing on-the-day logistics with the royal reporting pool, coordinating a live press room, and responding to ongoing requests.
