Creating a 'Safe Haven'

Haven and RNLI

In 2018, the UK’s leading, award-winning caravan holiday park operator, Haven, launched a charitable partnership with the RNLI with the vision of creating a truly ‘safe haven’ for the 2.9million holidaymakers who visit its parks each year.

Water safety messages are shared at touch points throughout the guest journey including email communications and on park posters. Most excitingly of all, Haven and the RNLI have worked together to create RNLI Water Safety, a bespoke, free activity, delivered by Haven’s Park Rangers. This activity has to date taught 10,000 children and their families, how to stay safe and happy at the seaside. The RNLI’s face-to- face team also visit Haven parks in the summer to share advice on how to avoid hazards in the local area, and at Hafan y Môr, children can even ride in our miniature RNLI lifeboats.

Haven’s team members, guests and owners have skydived, abseiled and danced their way to raising £300,000 over the first two years of our partnership. This money goes towards ensuring parks near the coast are a ‘safe Haven’, by equipping and training RNLI lifeboat crew and lifeguards to continue their vital work of saving lives at sea around the UK and Ireland.
