Heathrow, the UK’s largest airport, has joined forces with Oxfam, one of the UK’s most recognised international development charities, to engage colleagues, passengers and suppliers to fight poverty around the world. This collaboration has become Heathrow’s longest and most successful charity partnership.
2016 saw a significant uplift in partnership activities, which has achieved the following outcomes:
•Enabled Oxfam to reach a new audience of approximately 2 million with a brand awareness campaign in the airport. This has maximised the key asset Heathrow can offer as a partner.
•Contributed to making Heathrow a great place to work. The events organised have brought together the airport’s large staff base and engaged over 40 other businesses working across the airport site.
•Supported Heathrow’s investment in the local community. The partners are developing an initiative to help young people gain skills by volunteering with Oxfam.
•Doubled the amount raised by Heathrow colleagues compared to the previous year, showing a significant increase in engagement and fundraising success.
•Achieved the ambitious partnership target of raising £1 million for Oxfam’s work; all against the backdrop of fitting around a 24/7 global airport operation.
