Asda Fight Hunger Create Change

Asda and FareShare & The Trussell Trust

Asda's Chief Customer Officer Andy Murray states: In February 2018, Asda launched 'Fight Hunger Create Change' in collaboration with food charities FareShare and The Trussell Trust. 8.4 million people in the UK are struggling to afford to eat and with that in mind, Asda created the most ambitious CSR programme and biggest charitable investment it has ever made. Following research amongst colleagues and customers, food insecurity was considered to be their most important welfare issue for Asda to address and by combing the environmental and financial benefit of the Plastic Carrier Bag Levy, we designed a £20 million investment over 3 years to target food insecurity in the UK.
Fight Hunger Create Change is a truly business-wide initiative from Asda's perspective which covers logistics, retail, commercial, procurement and marketing functions amongst many others, but also represents a Consortium with the UK's 2 largest food charities to deliver 3 social objectives by 2020:
1) Provide an additional 24 million meals each year to those in need
2) Make fresh fruit and vegetables available in food banks
and
3) Help 1 million people by providing them with the food and services they need to help them out of the situation they're in
