Deloitte and Depaul UK's Nightstop programme

Deloitte and Depaul UK

For many young people, Deloitte's partnership with homeless charity Depaul UK has meant safety and shelter, rather than rough sleeping or worse.

The relationship was formed in 2016 when we began offering Depaul pro bono support through our One Million Futures social impact strategy. The charity wanted to expand its Nightstop service, which provides emergency accommodation for 16 to 25-year-olds in crisis. We saw an opportunity to use our expertise to make a real impact in society.

Our Risk Analytics experts led a heat-mapping project to identify a location for the new Nightstop service and Manchester emerged as the area most in need. In 2017, our Real Estate team stepped in to find premises large enough to house business operations and a youth centre. This was a challenging task as it meant securing space in a prime city-centre location on a charity's budget.

The partnership has helped Depaul reach hundreds more vulnerable young people; it's estimated it has created 1,473 better futures. During the last financial year, we donated 361 professional hours valued at £50,615. But the support hasn't stopped there - our people have also raised £251,000 for the charity.

This is, quite literally, a relationship that is changing lives.
