During 2018/9, Tesco joined forces with its three Health Charity Partners - Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK - to launch an innovative and ambitious new challenge event – Dance Beats. The aim of this unique event was to engage thousands of Tesco customers and colleagues from across the UK, to highlight the vital work of this market-leading Health Partnership, and to raise much-needed funds to support the charities. From 18 to 20 July 2019, communities across the country came together to put on their dancing shoes and make a difference for these great causes. As a grand finale to the celebrations, 4,661 colleagues and customers set the Guinness World Record for the longest ever dance relay of 30 hours, held at Wembley Stadium on 20 July.
Through Dance Beats, an incredible £2 million was donated to the health charity partnership based on the three days of activity. This was part of a total donation of £10.8 million Tesco has contributed to these charities since the partnership began in 2018.
