Capgemini Coding Academy in Partnership with Code Your Future

Capgemini and Code Your Future

Capgemini is transforming lives of refugees and people from disadvantaged backgrounds through a partnership with Code Your Future (CYF), a non-profit organisation, ‘supporting refugees and disadvantaged individuals with the dream of becoming developers.’
In 2018, we became the first corporate partner offering end-to-end support through the sponsorship of CYF’s 8-month training programme, providing 50 Capgemini mentors and business coaches, and crucially committing to offering employment at the end.
We provided access to our offices and networks, establishing homework clubs, immersion work days, and opportunities to build a project portfolio with us, enabling students to develop not only the tech skills – but also the experience they needed, to forge a technology career.
Recognising that participants needed nurturing beyond ‘tech’, we worked with partners to introduce soft skills to the programme. Personal mentors ensured practical barriers such as childcare or travel, did not impede students.
We have built a lasting partnership with Code Your Future and are working to help deliver our joint ambitions of creating an inclusive technology sector.
Since completing the course in September 2019, 65% of graduates have continued in education or gained employment, including permanent placements with Capgemini. The initiative has been now been scaled for 2020.
