Big Give

Unite Students and British Heart Foundation

Unite Students is now in its 3rd year of partnership with the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The partnership was set up as a valuable component of our broader behaviour change program 'NUS Positive Impact'. The objective is to support students to develop their responsible living habits, and encourage the 50,000 students living with us to recycle their unwanted goods, rather than throw them away. These goods are then sorted and sold across the BHF retail shops generating income for the charity.
Throughout the year we have 'donation stations' located in all our properties, making it easy and accessible for students to donate unwanted goods. During the time of the partnership over half a million pounds worth of items have been donated, this has resulted in 335000 tonnes of items being diverted from landfill and saved 3408562kg of co2 emissions being released in the
atmosphere.
