Airbus joins BHF Nation of Lifesavers

Airbus Operations Ltd and British Heart Foundation

The commercial aerospace company Airbus, has been working in partnership with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for the past two years to help deliver a "Nation of Lifesavers" improving survival rates for out of hospital cardiac arrests.
Across the UK, there are over 30,000 cardiac arrests outside hospital every year, but the survival rate is less than one in ten. Put simply, thousands more mums, dads, grandparents and children could be saved every year if more people had life-saving CPR skills. On hearing these devastating statistics, the Airbus UK leadership team was determined to make help make the UK a country where learning CPR is a normal part of life. Using the innovative watch and learn model and Call, Push Rescue kits from the BHF, Airbus have trained 4,366 employees to-date. Further training is being offered in the coming months to ensure the entire workforce is confident to take action in an emergency.
In addition to CPR training in the workplace, Airbus employees have also been fundraising in earnest to help fund CPR kits for secondary schools. 100 schools to-date have benefited from their generosity, allowing the next generation to also learn these life-saving skills.
