The Berkeley Foundation

The Berkeley Foundation is working to build a society where every young person can thrive. 2019 has seen significant growth and development: the first full year of delivering our new strategy, and higher levels of grants and fundraising than ever before.

We help young people overcome barriers, improve their lives and build a fairer society. We work with charities to support individuals, build the capacity of youth organisations, and share what we learn with the wider sector.

We are able to leverage our impact by drawing on the assets of our parent company, Berkeley Group. Berkeley’s core funding, coupled with the outstanding engagement of Berkeley staff through payroll giving, fundraising, and volunteering enables us to continue to grow our impact. 65% of staff are engaged with our work. Last year they volunteered over 7,000 hours and raised a record £1m.

Our partnerships have reached over 100 organisations and 24,000 people to date. Our total commitment since 2011 now exceeds £20m. In 2021, we will celebrate ten years of support to the charity sector. We believe we have an exceptional foundation, which can serve as a model to others, and we are excited to keep developing our work into the future.
